Taylor Swift has had many career milestones yet there’s one that only her hardcore fans seem to remember.
As the Taylor fan account The Swift Society reminded us on X recently, March 5 marked the 16th anniversary of the “Cruel Summer” singer’s acting debut on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and they posted photographic proof to back the claim.
The post was enough to trigger sweet memories among Swifties who caught the show when it aired in March 2009.
In the episode, Swift, who was just 19 at the time, played a rebellious teen character named Haley Jones with multiple piercings and dyed black hair. Her character’s dead body is found in the parking lot of a motel owned by her parents on the show.
Seeing her daughter play a dead body covered with fake blood in the opening of the episode called “Turn, Turn, Turn,” freaked out Swift’s real-life mother, Andrea Swift, the singer told Rolling Stone journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis, per People.
While the sight of her daughter playing a dead body may have triggered Taylor’s mother, most fans seem to have fond memories of her appearance.
the biggest swiftie i knew at that time told me she’s appearing on csi and the fact that i pulled an all nighter just to watch this episode always gets me you’re telling me that was 16 years ago today omg” wrote one Swifty.
However, at least one fan was also triggered by the plotline of the show (spoiler alert). “This episode traumatized me I thought my mom was going to kill me for like a week after this,” they wrote.
Another fan reminded us that Taylor’s appearance on the show inspired the “CSI Remix” of the song “You’re Not Sorry,” originally featured on Swift’s 2008 album Fearless, writing, “and thanks to that we got this masterpiece,” with another adding, “AND she made a dope ass remix of you’re not sorry too. Let’s not forget.
