Battling New Health Condition, FOX Reporter Erin Andrews Announces Big Super Bowl Update….Read More

Fox reporter Erin Andrews found herself in an awkward situation while interviewing Baker Mayfield before their Week 18 game. A bad experience with a skincare product left her with a swollen face and an acne breakout as she struggled to carry out her duties. A trip to the doctor ensued and while she has recovered from that ordeal, Andrews shed light on battling another health issue for some time.

Andrews, who has been working with FOX since 2012, is gearing up for the Super Bowl in her own way. She has come up with an exclusive fashion wear to celebrate the “spirit of Super Bowl” and is looking forward to the showdown between the Chiefs and the Eagles. An estimated 203.4 million U.S. adults are expected to tune into Super Bowl LIX, many of whom are affected by dry eye disease (DED) symptoms, something that Andrews is also dealing with.

The sportscaster is no stranger to long hours in front of screens, constant travel, and changing environments, but it has had an adverse effect on the seasoned NFL reporter. In a chat with Athletech News, Andrews talked about her struggle with dry eye disease that affects roughly 38 million people in the U.S.

Having grown accustomed to reading from screens and working lengthy hours, Andrews first brushed off her symptoms. “I͏ just t͏hought it was my͏ eyes be͏ing ti͏red,” she mentioned. “I thought maybe it was just͏ because͏ I’m look͏ing at͏ my screen s͏o much͏—my͏ eyes ͏always ͏ki͏nd of feel a little scr͏atchy and gritt͏y. I͏’m͏ always wip͏ing them or trying to blink.͏ I just thought that’s how it ͏was. Turns out, I’m an idiot, and my do͏ctor’͏s li͏ke͏, ‘No, that’s ͏dry eye.’”

After the diagnosis of dry eye disease, Andrews was prescribed Miebo, the first and only prescription eye drop that directly targets too much tear evaporation, the number one cause of DES. The eye drops helped Andrews with immediate effect. “Honestly, instantly when I took it, I felt such a difference,” she said in an interview last October.

Women are disproportionately affected by the disease and are twice as likely as men to suffer from it due to hormonal changes, age, and lifestyle factors. If left untreated, it can become chronic, and progressive and significantly impact quality of life, according to research.

Hence, Andrews has been keen on raising awareness about the drug and dry eye disease. Last year, she teamed up with Bausch + Lomb to launch the “Miebo ohh yeah” campaign to spread the word about the condition and drug. She is also keen on helping people identify symptoms of dry eye disease early and get treatment.

“Like [if you are] constantly rubbing your eyes or blinking or thinking, ‘Oh, my eyes feel super dry or scratchy’—go ask somebody about it because there’s actually something that can relieve your symptoms,” Andrews told Athletech News

Andrews also opened up about her eye condition in an interview with Flow Space last year. She recalled how her work was affecting her eye health. “I look at a ton of screens. I’m on my phone, reading articles, researching football games, and watching television. Plus, I’m constantly traveling—planes, hotel rooms, different cities every week. All of that was really taking a toll on my eyes, making them feel gritty and scratchy,” she said.

Meanwhile, earlier this season, Andrews experienced a major side effect after using retinol, a form of Vitamin A that’s used as a skincare product. This left her in a tight spot when she sat down with Bucs’ Baker Mayfield.

Andrews struggled to speak both during their pre-game and post-game interview and later on her Calm Down Podcast issued an apology to Mayfield revealing what happened.

“I’m sitting down with Baker, already talked to you. Left side is swollen, got a big, this one (pointing to her face) already got it injected today. Great. Trying to, you know, like do s**t with my mouth. Try to smile so you can’t see it. Sunday post-game, I got f*****g braille all over my face. Right here, I already got it injected,” she mentioned.

Andrews has͏ been FOX’s go-to sideline ͏r͏eport͏er fo͏r football since 2014. This season, she’s gearing up for her fourth Sup͏er Bowl and it will be her first time t͏ea͏ming u͏p with Tom Br͏ady͏.

With her eye condition now in check, Andrews just dropped some thrilling news about the Super Bowl that you won’t want to miss!

Just in time for the͏ Sup͏er Bo͏wl on February 9,͏ Erin Andrews has teamed up with designer͏ Rebecca Mink͏off to create a stylish and practica͏l ja͏cket for f͏ootba͏l͏l fans.
